We are Diabetes UK. Our vision is a world where diabetes can do no harm.
Diabetes affects more people than any other serious health condition in the UK. More than dementia and cancer combined. That means we need to take action now.
Because we’re the leading UK charity for people affected by diabetes it’s our responsibility to lead the fight against the growing crisis. And this fight is one that involves all of us - sharing knowledge and taking diabetes on together.

I think im type 2 because sometimes i get the symptoms then its gone for a while, it comes again? Someone help
Hi there, if you think you might be experiencing symptoms of diabetes, we'd recommend raising this with a healthcare professional, and they can carry out the relevant tests 💙
As a side note, the bit that seems to be glossed over on this video depiction seems to be varying recovery times. After a sugary drink there would be half hour upwards of recovery to get better, it's not an instant thing. Also, brain fog, impending sense of doom and fatigue are symptoms. All of this depends on how it affects the individual.
They say like insulin is the first line treatment for the diabetes right. But i didn't get in the type 2 DM the body produces more insulin right. Then why insulin is preferred as 1st line management 🤔
Hi there, thank you for your comment. Firstly, insulin for many people living with type 2 diabetes is not the 'first line treatment'. It is only offered when the natural insulin production is too low or does not work correctly. Furthermore, type 2 diabetes does not mean too much insulin is produced, but rather that not enough of it is being made in the pancreas. We have further information about this on our main website here: www.diabetes.org.uk/diabetes-the-basics/types-of-diabetes/type-2 & here: www.diabetes.org.uk/diabetes-the-basics/types-of-diabetes/type-2/treatments/medicine 💙
I agree with people about the anxiety - that’s the correct word. You feel the low approaching but nobody can see it… It’s that bottomless-pit-in-the-stomach feeling, your mind is racing but you’re trying to hold it together. Somebody will ask if you’re ok but you can’t string two words together!
🎉can you please find out why there is a shortage of insulin it took me 3 days to get some? I'm a new diagnosed type 1 although I was missed diagnosed jan 23 as type 2 with insulin. I'm finding it hard to keep my numbers down and having no insulin for 2 days doesn't help 😊
Hi there, could you please get in touch on 0345 123 2399 Mon- Fri 9am-6pm, or email us at helpline@diabetes.org.uk with further details so that a member of the Supporter Care team can look into this for you? 💙
Thanks, very good explanation of A1C.👍
One time back in 6th grade, even though I’m not diabetic, I did not eat very much at lunch and in math class I got sudden intense hunger, then during middle school skills, I got irritable and weak and super hungry too, then I decided to go to the nurses office to get some food, I told her I was feeling shaky a bit lightheaded and abnormally hungry, and irritable, she said I may have experienced a drop in blood sugar due to not eating, so she gave me some crackers to eat and I got way better, I mean all I got a say, NEVER IGNORE HUNGER!!!!!
Whether craving to eat sugar is sign of diabetes? If there are no sweets at home I have no craving and I can also be for weeks without eat sugar
Hi there, increased overall hunger is a symptom of diabetes, but this alone might be down to something else. We'd suggest going to see a healthcare professional if you have any concerns 💙
@@diabetesuk I have normal sugar levels. I am just saying that sugar is very addictive if at home.
the music in the background is very annoying
I really love sweets. I'm glad I don't have this symptoms.
I just hope the people' mentality could change in India as well, specially if our spouse could understand our mental health, why we feel anger and different negative emotions in our daily life, though what are ur thoughts on getting married? Could it lead us to a more screwed situation, i am a type 1 diabetic and i feel like im being narcissistic for putting up my needs and medicine and health as my first priority and then second is my fiance, am i foing something wrong😢
Anyone watched this who has fasted for at least three days and then got type 1 within a year? Only asking is all. ❤️
Salam
Sir consaltation please

I’ve been type 1 diabetic since I was 11 months old and I will be 27yrs old in August. This is probably one of the most accurate descriptions I’ve seen.
Bekar information nothing new
Good luck if your phone upgrades in operating system! My iPhone upgraded to 7.4. I’ve been checking their compatibility guide. It only works up to 7.3.03. So it’s useless
Keeping your mind occupied with tasks like housework, family, hobbies and careers and away from food is probably best having a dog that needs walks helps too. It's all psychology at the end of the day.

بسیار عالی
love this information
thank you!
This is a great video! Thank you for breaking it down to be understood
We're glad you've found it helpful! 💙
True my grandpa has type 2 diabetes but doesn't have any symptoms
The numbers he states in the video are worthless for the U.S. It's all metric.
I don't understand how you exercise with this?
Hi there - if you are experiencing DKA, you would need to be admitted to hospital for urgent treatment as exercise would not be viable at that moment. You'll be given insulin, fluids and nutrients through a drip into your vein. You'll be monitored for complications, as DKA can sometimes affect your brain, heart or lungs. Once your ketones are at a safe level and you can eat and drink normally you'll be able to go home. The doctors will talk to you about what caused DKA and give you advice on how to reduce the risk of it happening again. Hope that helps 💙
I have all of the symptoms 😂 but i think im just this way, searched this cause my toe went numb and wont come back, and i thought it could be because of blood not reaching the smaller veins cause of the surgar
That was one best thank you doctor
very good
What YT shorts commenters think what happens after eating something with over 4 grams of sugar:

So after all that, what are “hypo’s”?
Hi @MacksCurley - we actually have a video on hypos here: ua-cam.com/video/4LttAS3HpA0/v-deo.html 💙
@@diabetesuk Thanks I watched it. After watching this video again I realised I missed it when "hypoglycemia" was said and written. oops. Okay so when your blood glucose level drops too low due to excess insulin you experience "Hypos". The opposite happens when blood glucose levels are high and ketones are produced due to a deficiency of insulin causing ketoacidosis or diabetic shock. Is this correct?
There's more information about high blood glucose levels (hypers) on our website here: www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-to-diabetes/complications/hypers
And for an explanation of what diabetic ketoacidosis is, see here: www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-to-diabetes/complications/diabetic_ketoacidosis
Man please, i was diabetic then i started keto diet and i defeated diabetes
What about type 2 diabetes ? My fiancé has it. Does it mean, he also can pass it to his future kid ? Whats the difference with type 1 and type 2?
bloody hell... this is so poor
Shockingly bad advice. As I understand it, highly processed carbohydrates and sugar are bad for people with diabetes - why on earth would Diabetes UK be promoting this kind of eating?! No wonder people don't stick to healthier lifestyles if this beige, bland, boring nutritionally thin offering of food is what is being suggested to them.
